REFLECTIONS ALONG THE WAY

From the desk of Steve Macchia
Dear Friend,

July 1 marks the official 17th Anniversary of Leadership Transformations! As we turn the commemorative page into a new year of serving leaders and teams, we rejoice in the new things God is doing at LTI. So many reasons to celebrate with thanksgiving: since COVID-19 hit, we have pivoted all of our major programming online, hosted 26 online soul care retreats and formation-themed workshops from April-June, developed our new Team Health Assessment Tool (THAT) and created The Discerning Leader Podcast to be launched in July. God is working powerfully in our midst despite the challenges, and for that, we give our gracious Lord all the glory, honor and praise.

Your brother on the journey,

Steve Macchia
Founder & President

ONLINE SOUL CARE EVENTS
June 30 Online Workshop: CHAT Coach Certification
Facilitators: Steve Macchia & Rick Anderson
In this 3-hour training, you will discover a powerful, strengths-based church health model and leave as a Certified CHAT Coach (CHAT stands for Church Health Assessment Tool). You will be trained in the Ten Traits of a Healthy Church which CHAT uses as a biblical, principle-based measurement grid in assessing the health of a local church. These Ten Traits blend together the Great Commandment (love God), the Second Great Commandment (love one another), and the Great Commission (evangelism & discipleship).
July 1 Online Soul Care Retreat: Life in the Spirit
Facilitator: Jeremy Stefano
The whole Christian life involves the Holy Spirit. The Christian, born of the Spirit, learns to walk in the Spirit. Maturing in grace, we learn to pray in the Spirit, obtain access to the Father in the Spirit, sing in the Spirit, exhibit the fruit of the Spirit and serve with the gifts of the Spirit. What began in the Spirit must also be perfected by the Spirit. Come and attend to the Life in the Spirit available inside you.
July 17 The Transformational Journey
Facilitator: David Wu
Can change really happen? What is spiritual transformation—what does it look like and how does it happen? What are the challenges? This workshop explores the incredible promises, provisions, and pathways of our spiritual journey, and includes theological reflections, group conversations, and practicing spiritual disciplines together.
July 18 Online Soul Care Retreat: Waiting on God
Facilitator: Jeremy Stefano

Presently, our experience as Christians involves the blending of two realities. On the one hand, we experience joy in Messiah’s coming and his triumph over sin and death, and the Gift of the Holy Spirit now living in our hearts. On the other hand, a deep yearning for Christ to come again with righteousness and justice, in power and glory aches within us. During this retreat, we will tend to our experience of grief, longing, mourning and waiting as acts of faith while we live out our days in a fallen, imperfect and corruptible world. Come, Lord Jesus.
July 25 The Enneagram
Facilitator: David Wu

The Enneagram has been increasingly recognized as a helpful tool for self-awareness and discipleship, with roots in Christian spiritual theology. This workshop presents a distinctly Christian approach to using the Enneagram for discipleship. A portion of the workshop will be spent introducing the Enneagram through a biblical and theological lens. Each registrant will take an online WEPSS Enneagram assessment in advance of the workshop. With detailed and personalized results in hand, we'll spend the morning together exploring the self-discovery insights offered by this ancient tool.
July 30 Online Workshop: The Practice and Priority of Soul Care
Facilitators: Steve Macchia & David Wu

God’s invitation for his beloved children is always for deeper intimacy. He’s the Lover of our souls and longs to be given top priority in our daily lives. But, the distractions are abundant, and its often elusive to know how best to make choices that feed our longings for more of God. In this interactive online workshop, you will be introduced to sustaining practices that feed your soul.
August 6 Online Workshop: Sabbath Rest: Invitation, Gift and Blessing
Facilitator: Steve Macchia

Sabbath seems like a no-brainer. But, of all the 10 commandments, it’s the one we take for granted and rather loosely tend to ignore. God is a champion of creative work, that’s for sure. Just look around at trees, birds, oceans, and human beings to marvel at his work. But, he’s also a diligent advocate for Sabbath rest, when he and we are invited to join together in noticing, enjoying, and stewarding the life that surrounds us. Join the conversation and let’s keep Sabbath a priority.
SELAH-WEST | SELAH-EAST | SELAH-EUROPE
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION TRAINING
The Selah Certificate Program in Spiritual Direction is intentionally Trinitarian in theology, contemplative in style, and biblical in grounding. In this threefold context, we grow from the wisdom and experience of the Church, through readings in the classics of spiritual formation, and through the learned practice of spiritual direction together.

Selah's curriculum is designed to nurture each participant's foundational understanding of the theology of spiritual formation, through faculty teaching during retreat residencies, as well as reading and reflection assignments in between residencies. The curriculum is also structured to develop each spiritual director’s central practice, through small group experiences in retreat residencies, as well as individual experiences offering spiritual direction and reflecting on it with a Selah faculty supervisor in between residencies, either in person or by phone.
The 2021-2023 application season for Selah-East, Selah-West, and Selah-Europe will open in October of 2020. Would you like to be notified when the Selah application season begins?
ADD ME TO THE LIST!
Today, the Church needs more friends than critics, more advocates than adversaries. Leadership Transformations believes in the sacred work of the Church and all of our programs and resources are ultimately designed to strengthen the Church. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Becoming a Healthy Church which has been the backbone of LTI's church health efforts. We want to see the Bride of Christ flourish amidst current cultural challenges. We believe strongly that listening leaders are discerning leaders. That is why we developed the Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT) to help church leaders listen well. CHAT's principle-based framework is built upon the Ten Traits of a Healthy Church from Becoming a Healthy Church.
MORE INFO
Our Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT) has helped nearly 600 churches conduct a church-wide listening exercise. We praise God for the ability to leverage the technology available to us today to help church leaders listen well as they discern the road ahead. We firmly believe that in order for leaders to be effective, they need to be good listeners to God, to one another as discerning leadership teams, and to all whom they serve.

If you haven’t seen CHAT for yourself or your local church, it might be just the right time to do so — and we guarantee it will be well worth your time! Is your church ready for a church-wide listening exercise?  Download our Free Guide to Church Assessment today.
