Reflections Along the Way

From the Desk of Steve Macchia

Dear Greg,
Spring is in the air and yet I’m already looking forward to the fall.  Why?  Because my friends Ann Voskamp, Mark Buchanan, and Justin Unger are coming to New England to join me at Grace Chapel for The Deeper Life: A Spiritual Formation Gathering on October 29.  Can you save the date and plan to come?  This is going to be a day to unite with kindred spirits who are in pursuit of a deeper, richer experience with God.  Come and spend a day with others who will enrich your soul, engage your mind, and invigorate your spirit.  If you’ve never been to New England in the fall – this is your year!
I’m also pleased to announce that our Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT) just hit the 400 church mark.  See below for a special 40% off rate on Becoming a Healthy Church in celebration of this milestone.

LTI Ministry Highlights

Are you looking for spiritual direction training in the Western US?
We offer two regional cohorts: Selah-West (AZ) and Selah-East (New England/Mid-Atlantic).  Both cohorts are now accepting applications for the 2016-2018 program.  Led director Susan Currie and associate director Angela Wisdom, this program offers classical training in spiritual direction which is Trinitarian in theology, Contemplative in style, and Biblical in it's grounding.  Additional faculty members include: Tom Ashbrook, Adele Calhoun, John Coe, Alan Fadling, Ted Wueste (Click here for a full list of Selah Faculty).

"Selah has changed my life. Thank you for all you have done."  -- Daryl Driscoll

"Thanks again … Selah has been life changing for me… and live giving.  I long to see this imparted to others in the local church, it is so freeing." -- Deb Bellevue

Is there a spiritual director inside of you?  Contact us today and let's explore that question together!

Are you looking for a deeper leadership experience?
Join the 10th cohort of our Emmaus: Spiritual Leadership Community beginning Fall 2016.  You'll journey with other like-minded leaders through the "Pathway Year" of Emmaus.  In a series of four, 2-night retreats, the participants will gather in community and experiential learning around the subjects of:
"Spiritual Attentiveness" (Sep. 27-29, 2016)

"Spiritual Formation" (Nov. 29 - Dec. 1, 2016)
"Spiritual Discernment" (Mar. 7-9, 2017)
"Spiritual Community" (May 2-4, 2017)
Emmaus is a retreat-based leadership community ... and the only thing missing is YOU.  The 2016-2017 cohort is now enrolling.  Consider applying for Emmaus if you are looking for:
  • A more contemplative lifestyle in the midst of the growing demands of life and leadership
  • A caring, listening, and discerning community of sacred companions
  • Ongoing development to help you care for the souls of others in your ministry context (and encouragement to care for your own!)
  • Check out these brief video testimonies from Emmaus companions
Come and journey with others who hunger for rest, renewal, encouragement, and deeper spiritual companionship. Fill out the Online Application today. An optional Certificate in Spiritual Leadership is offered to those interested in enhancing their Emmaus experience.

Would an Emmaus Community that gathered for weekend retreats be a better fit for your schedule?  Contact us today and we'll follow up with you if that potential concept gets some traction.

Our Church Health Assessment Tool (CHAT) has just hit the 400 churches served mark!  We praise God for the ability to leverage the technology available to us today to help church leaders listen well (and without much effort!) as they discern the road ahead.  Since the tool’s inception (initially in paper and pencil version), nearly 1,000 churches have used this unique listening tool for congregations and leadership teams. In its online version, we’ve seen more than 35,300 individuals take this 72-question survey and have compiled more than 2.5 million responses! This is a huge landmark for our ministry, since our heart is for the spiritual health of congregations worldwide. We firmly believe that in order for leaders to be effective, they need to be good listeners…to God, one another as leadership teams, and for all whom they serve.

In celebration of this "400" milestone, we are offering the book Becoming a Healthy Church (the 10 Traits of a Healthy Church which CHAT is based upon) at a 40% discount for the remainder of March.

If you haven’t seen CHAT for yourself or your local church, it might be just the right time to do so – and we guarantee it will be well worth your time! Is your church ready for a church-wide listening exercise?
