Reflections Along the Way

From the Desk of Steve Macchia

Dear Steve,
Tis the season of Pentecost, the time in the church calendar when we commemorate the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send “Another Companion” who will be with us forever. That Companion is the Holy Spirit, the One who surprised the disciples fifty days after Easter with a time of renewal through a fresh outpouring of love. The Spirit came upon the people with incredible power, which threw the crowds into bewilderment.  When Peter spoke to them about what was happening, he quoted the prophet Joel and the psalmist David…two reputable voices who had a status they would respect.  An even more powerful witness than their words were the actions that transpired thereafter…devotion to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, wonders and signs, unity, generosity, and all with glad and sincere hearts (cf. Acts 2: 42-47). Are you desirous of such favor, blessing, unity, and joy among the people of God? Trust the Companion to fill us with the empowering presence of the Spirit who makes our life with God and one another come fully alive, for that’s the only way authentic transformation will occur.

LTI Ministry Highlights

Congrats 2014 graduates!
On June 3, 14 Selah graduates (pictured above with Selah faculty) were commissioned at Ender's Island in Mystic, CT and received their certificates of completion.  The graduates of this 5th cohort are: Janet Clinton, Caryn Dixon, Sherri Grigg, Kathy Koy, Leslea Linebarger, Nina Mullett, Donna Otto, Dennis Ritchie, Nicole Rowell, Gail Thompson, Will Truesdell, Christine Warner, Terri White, and Ted Wueste. "It was such a joy to see these 14 gifted and well-loved individuals receive their certificates," said Rick Anderson, LTI senior vice president, "and to see the support of so many friends and family present to witness the commissioning ceremony."

The Selah Certificate in Spiritual Direction consists of:
  • 5 retreat residencies of 3-4 nights: instruction, peer group spiritual direction, time for silent prayer and reflection, daily communal worship
  • Monthly spiritual direction (received and offered)
  • Monthly supervision by Selah faculty
  • Reading, writing, practice assignments designed to deepen our prayerful reflection, conversation, and practice.
  • Community: 10-14 individuals make up a cohort
Is there a spiritual director inside of you?  Contact us today and let's explore that question together! td>

Rushed to Rested: A Soul Care Experience
June 27 -- Colorado Springs

Summer is here! For many of us, this can be a very hurried and active time of the year. And though we may desire to be fully present to loved ones and to God, we find that our attention is easily scattered about in the direction of work, travels, and constant activity. If you can relate to this, consider setting aside a full day to slow down, connect with God, and be renewed at Leadership Transformation's next Rushed to Rested Soul Care Retreat on June 27, 2014 at beautiful Glen Eyrie.

Church Health Training
June 28 -- Colorado Springs

In this one-day training, you will discover a powerful, strengths-based church health model and leave as a Certified CHAT Coach (CHAT stands for Church Health Assessment Tool). You will be trained in the Ten Traits of a Healthy Church which CHAT uses as a biblical, principle-based measurement grid in assessing the health of a local church. These Ten Traits blend together the Great Commandment (love God), the Second Great Commandment (love one another), and the Great Commission (evangelism & discipleship). You'll also be educated in the full functionality of the CHAT Survey and how to customize its powerful, but user-friendly design in coaching/consulting with a church to make them as healthy and effective as they can be. Lunch is included. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Each registrant will receive a FREE copy of Becoming a Health Church at the training.
