Reflections Along the Way

From the Desk of Steve Macchia

Guard your heart … it's the wellspring of life (Prov. 4:23) --this was the theme of our 9th Anniversary Celebration, and it's captured my prayerful reflections ever since. Now, as we enter the season of Advent, it's all the more important. We need to guard, protect, and watch over our hearts or they will become captive to the materialism all around us. If we become consumed by shopping, decorating, entertaining, baking, and running ourselves ragged, we will miss the powerful meaning of Advent. Instead, our prayer for you and yours is that the wellspring of your life will be sustained and enriched by the presence and power of Jesus. His miraculous conception and birth into this world displays His incarnation into our hearts as King, Lord, and Savior.  May the final verse of the hymn, "Lift Up Your Heads" by Georg Weissel serve as an encouragement to your guarded heart, "Redeemer, come, with us abide; our hearts to thee we open wide; Let us thy inner presence feel; thy grace and love in us reveal."  May your heart be adorned with peace and love and joy as the Savior of the world draws near. From our home to yours … a blessed Advent, joyful Christmas, and happy New Year to all!
